AmeriCorps/COMCorps Service Members engage in direct service to the community through the coordination of Live Healthy Appalachia’s programs. LHA hosts two AmeriCorps/ComCorps members- a Live Healthy Kids Coordinator and an Adult Education Coordinator. COMCorps is a 10.5 month service commitment, and the service year begins in August 2017. The Adult Education Coordinator will work to increase access to wellness programs and healthy living information for adults and families and Athens and Hocking Counties. The COMCorps member will coordinate programs like Cooking Coaches, My First 5K, and wellness programs at social service organizations which educate participants about wellness in a compassionate and straightforward manner, giving them the tools to make lasting changes which will have a positive effect on their health as well as the health of their families.
The ideal candidate for this position will be passionate about health and comfortable teaching adults in a classroom setting.
