Dottie Fromal from The Hive is on a mission to bring good to this world in a time of uncertainty, especially when families are faced with the challenge of where their next meal is coming from. She initiated Thursday Night Community Dinners, delivering free meals to family homes throughout Nelsonville every Thursday night. The program started with 150 families and grew to serving 300 families in the area. It was projected to continue growing, but the dinners have been put on hold for the next three weeks, due to the rise in coronavirus cases in Southeast Ohio. But that did not stop Dottie. She cleverly adapted to the circumstances by providing a table of free goods to anyone and everyone who stops by The Historic Square of Nelsonville, available every single day.
Live Healthy Appalachia is proud to support Dottie and The Hive in their mission to serve our local community. Purchasing these gorgeous Georgia peaches from Rural Action’s Chesterhill Produce Auction, we stopped by to drop them off and say hello. We encourage you to stop by Dottie’s free stand and contribute what you can for the health and wellbeing of our community.
*Update: Dottie informed us that all the peaches were eaten that same day! *
